MARYSVILLE LITTLE LEAGUE (WA)

Marysville Little League - Parent Code of Conduct

I, as a parent or guardian of a Marysville Little League player, agree to the following:

  1. Participation:

    • I will encourage my child to attend and participate; however, I will not force my child to participate in Little League.

    • I acknowledge that the ‘Spirit of Little League’ is to provide a recreation-level youth sports experience that is positive, fosters a sense of inclusion and community, and encourages good sportsmanship at all times.

    • I understand that children play for fun, and the game is for youth, not adults.

  2. Safety and Communication:

    • I will inform the Coaching Staff of any physical or mental conditions or ailments affecting my child or others' safety.

    • I will communicate clearly and in a professional manner with all Members of the League (including Coaching Staff, Board Members, Parents & Players.)

    • I will provide my player with equipment that is safe and meets the standards of both the Marysville Little League and Little League International.

  3. Knowledge and Understanding:

    • I will learn the game rules as published by both Little League International (App-Based Rulesbooks Published Annually), Interleague District 1 Rules, and Marysville Little League policies to better support my child’s experience.

    • I will review and abide by the policies and procedures set forth by Marysville Little League; including those posted on the League website.

    • If I have questions about rules, I will first address these with Coaching Staff. If additional clarification is needed, Coaching Staff will approach League Umpire-in-Chief in order to provide additional information.

  4. Role Model Behavior:

    • I (and my guests) will demonstrate positive sportsmanship, respect, and courtesy to all players, coaches, officials, and spectators.

    • I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct such as booing, taunting, or using profane language or gestures.

  5. Encouragement and Development:

    • I will encourage my child to play by the rules, respect others, and resolve conflicts peacefully.

    • I will emphasize effort and skill development over winning, especially in younger age groups.

    • I will praise my child for their efforts and sportsmanship rather than criticize mistakes or losses.

  6. Respect for Authority:

    • I will respect on-field Game Officials/Umpires and their decisions.

    • I will not confront Coaching Staff during games.

    • I will communicate with Coaching Staff only at agreed-upon times and in a respectful manner.

  7. Healthy Environment:

    • I will demand a drug-, tobacco-, and alcohol-free environment (including the use of vape-based products) at all Little League events.

  8. Sideline Conduct:

    • I will not coach or direct players during games or practices unless I am an official coach.

Consequences for Misconduct

  • First Offense: Based on severity of Conduct Violation, the First Offense is typically a Written Warning; the League reserves the right to enact stronger penalties, up to and including the immediate removal from the facility and suspension from the following game.

  • Repeat Offenses: May result in multiple game suspensions or season-long forfeiture of attendance privileges.

Any and all Disciplinary Action related to Conduct Violations are at the discretion of the acting Board of Directors. Violations of the Little League Child Abuse Protection Policy override any actions listed and may include additional penalty, up to and including expulsion.
